Snowboarding Adventure

Over the weekend, we went to Jack Frost and Big Boulder Ski Resort for a family ski/snowboard trip. Mommy and Daddy skied while I tried out snowboarding for the first time. Mommy and Daddy were pretty darn good skiers (to be fair, they did have some previous experience), but me… not so much. Let’s just say my butt won’t be recovering from all the times I fell for a while.  Do you know how hard it is to move/get up with a snowboard attached to your feet? I looked like I was doing the worm most of the way down the mountain! Towards the end of the trip, I was very proud of myself when I made a very steep and tricky turn while going at a very fast pace. That is… until Mommy screamed for me to look up and I realized I had taken a wrong turn into a VERY steep mountain trail. I had to fall on purpose to avoid the treacherous (as in NOT meant for really bad beginners like me) hill and "wormed" my way back to the original trail.

Besides all the falling, the weather was not helping my experience. It was not only freezing cold (11 deg), but also a little windy & snowing super hard down in the Blakeslee area. Luckily, Mommy had purchased goggles for each of us prior to the trip, so the snow was not a huge problem for us. However, by the time we finished, my cheeks were a bright pink color and cold to the touch since they were the only exposed part of my body.

This adventure was not exactly what I expected, but at least, I got to try snowboarding like I wanted. Thanks, Mommy and Daddy for taking me, so I can cross snowboarding off my bucket list. Next time, I think I’ll just stick to skiing!
