THANK YOU COACH JILL!

Today was a Super Sunday! I had to get up at 5:45 in the morning to go to a swim meet at Central Bucks High School. I swam my personal best in all 4 events: 50 yd backstroke, 50 yd butterfly, 100 yd breaststroke, and a 400 yd IM which consists of 16 laps: 4 laps butterfly, 4 laps backstroke, 4 laps breaststroke, and 4 laps freestyle. I finally finished all my events by 1:30 in the afternoon.  Then we had to rush to art class and we didn't get home until 4:30. It was a super long day and I am exhausted now.

But before I go to bed (and I know I am going to sleep like a baby tonight), I would like to dedicate this post to Coach Jill for staying with us at the swim meet all those long hours.
Thank you Coach Jill!

Also, congratulations to my teammates Kathryn, Roe and Monkey who also did well at today's USA meet!

YMCA Donor Reception

On Wednesday, my Mom, my Dad, and I went to the YMCA donor reception for the people that made donations to the YMCA. Mommy & Daddy were not going to go but decided to at the last minute.  I joined them after my swim practice.  When I looked across the room, I was pleasantly surprised to see my 2nd grade teacher, Ms. Morett! She only taught in our class for 3 months, then she went to a different school, so I haven't seen her in a while.  I had a nice time chatting with Ms. Morett and meeting her mom and dad. They seem like really nice folks! They even gave me their $15 gift certificate to Thunderbird! There was refreshment at the reception and I tried a cream soda for the first time, it was awesome! I hope I get to see Ms. Morett again soon!

Adinkra Cloth

After reading "The Talking Cloth", I made my own Adinkra cloth. An Adinkra cloth has colors and symbols that represent the person that's wearing it.  One thing I put on my cloth is some Chinese characters.  I did this to show that I know Chinese and because these characters are my Chinese name.  I also drew my stuffed animal Doggy, to show that she is very important to me.  Another thing I drew is some ice cream cones.  I did that pink because I love ice cream! I also drew some books to show that I love to read!  I did some orange hearts around the border.  I used orange because I think it is a fun, cheery color.  Everything on this cloth is really important to me.

Guest Native Indian Speaker

Today in Social Studies, our class was excited to meet a guest "Indian" speaker who was coming to tell the class what it's like to live 600 years ago.

The funny thing was, the "Indian" looked exactly like Mr. S (my homeroom teacher), sounded exactly like Mr. S. and was wearing the exact same outfit as Mr. S. It was almost as if Mr. S walked out of the classroom and walked back into the classroom pretending to be an Indian.....which he did!  We were supposed to wave and smile when the "Indian" arrived, but we all cracked up when we saw who the Indian was.

I LOVE SNOW!

Since we had snow today, my swim meet was cancelled and I got the entire day to play in the snow!
The first thing I did was build a snow dog with Doggy. Doggy just got a new scarf from Nana, so she was nice and warm.  Thank you Nana for my homemade scarf and Doggy's matching one!  After that, we went sledding. I got to use the new sled that Uncle Roy got me for Christmas. Thanks Uncle Roy! When we came home from sledding, I made myself some nice warm hot chocolate.

I had the best snow day ever!

My Weekend

On Saturday,
I went to Chinese school in the morning from 9:30-12:00. On the way home from Chinese school, we stopped at Staples. Mommy got ink cartridges, and I got a nice new purple binder, so everyone was happy! We also got a coke that we shared. Then Mommy wanted to go running because it was so nice out, so Daddy and I joined her and ran 2 miles. I'm also training for another 5k run and my 3rd kiddy triathlon in April, so that was a good practice run.

On Sunday,
I went to the YMCA because it was swim team picture day, a pancake breakfast, and water polo. Water polo is a lot like soccer, only you use your hands and is played in the water.  Sadly, our team lost (by 1 point) but I still had a lot of fun.  I also ate a lot at breakfast since I was famished after water polo. Then it was team picture time and I smiled big for the camera.  After all that, all the kids who were still at the Y played with the toys in the gym closet.  When I had to leave (against my will), we went home and got ready for art class. In art class, I sketched a really cool clock but I didn't finish.  When I finish next week, I will post it on my blog.  As a bonus to my awesome weekend, Mommy made the most delicious homemade pizza for dinner.  I had a nice weekend, hope you did too.

Congratulations Mr. Casey!

On Wednesday, January 4th, a stork delivered a baby boy to the Casey household! Mr. Casey is my L.A.   (Language Arts) teacher at school. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Casey! The baby's name is Caden.
Even though I'm happy for Mr. Casey, I really miss having him as my LA teacher. Substitutes are ok but I prefer Mr. Casey any day.  He's the best LA teacher I've ever had.  He's supposed to be back on Monday. I can't wait!

Homemade Christmas Gifts with Love

For Christmas, I made this board for my cousin Justin. Justin is 13 years old, a typical teenager.  I thought this board will come in handy one day. Daddy helped me cut and sand the board. Thanks Daddy!

I drew this drawing and gave it to my Uncle Patrick and Aunt Annie for Christmas.  I thought they could use a nice drawing to hang up in their nice condo. Mommy helped me pick out the frame. Thanks Mommy!

I also made a gift for "Auntie" Katie where I drew 12 different pictures on 12 different cups, each cup represents one month of the year. Sorry, but I forgot to take a picture of the cups before I gave them away. Maybe "Auntie" Katie can send me a picture when she reads this post. I made this gift all by myself. Thank you CC!

Thanks for the photos "Aunt" Katie!

The Best New Year's Eve/New Year's Day Ever

MY NEW YEAR'S EVE
Happy New Year everybody! Did you all have a great New Year's Eve? I sure did!

Mommy's friend, Ms. Jennie invited us to a New Year's Eve party. I was really excited about going all week long because I get to see my friends Mandy, Ryan, and Mei Mei who I haven't seen in a little while. Unfortunately, we all got sick. Daddy got a really bad cough, mommy got a very sore throat and started coughing a little, and I had a such a runny nose that I went through a whole box of tissues in just 2 days. Doggy was the only one who was feeling 100%. So, mommy said we better stay home and not infect all our friends and make them suffer too.

We got to use the fireplace. This was a big deal since this was the first time I ever experienced a fire in this house. We also roasted marshmallows,(Doggy did too) and they were delicious! I stayed up long enough to see the ball drop, but I didn't actually see it drop because I was too busy looking at the countdown clock. We all camped out downstairs in the living room until the next morning. I slept in my play tent, and Mommy and Daddy slept on the floor by the fire. I think I fell asleep around 12:30. Even though I didn't get to see my friends, I had a great New Year's Eve with my family!

MY NEW YEAR'S DAY
On New Year's Day, Mommy woke me up at 10:00 for breakfast and then we went ice skating afterwards. I saw my friends Katherine and Elsa at the Skatium!  I skated with Mommy during the first 90 min. Then my friends and I skated together for the last 30 minutes. We had a lot of fun just skating around and around.  Wow, I can't believe we skated the entire 2 hours.  After skating, Daddy met up with us and we went to IKEA for linner because Mommy wanted to get these bowls from IKEA. Linner: noun [lin-er] it's the meal of the day when it's too late for lunch yet too early for dinner; usually eaten between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 in the afternoon. Basically, I did nothing all day but had fun with my family and friends. I had the best New Year's Day ever!
