The Lancaster Covered Bridge Metric Century Ride (100km, 65miles) didn't actually take
place until the next day, but it's our own little family tradition to head up a
day early and stay at a hotel on Saturday. So, after arriving at the hotel early, we
decided to occupy our wait time by enjoying a pre-packed picnic lunch at a
provincial public park (try saying that 3 times fast!). YUM!
Following our delicious healthy meal, we decided it was time for
some... SHOPPING!!!! Lancaster outlets rock! :) I got myself this awesome hat
from the Merrell store, called a Penelope hat (see below). Whoop whoop!
For dinner, we had a delicious meal from Dickey's Barbecue Pit.
There's nothing like a balanced diet of meat, mac and cheese, meat, onion
rings, meat, buttered rolls, meat, and more meat drenched in bbq sauce (did I mention meat?)!

The next morning, we got up bright and early (5:30) and headed to Harrisburg Community College's Lancaster Campus. The bike
ride started out nicely, with cool, perfect weather. However, once we left the lunch stop at mile 38, it started
getting searingly hot and blindingly bright. Around this time, Daddy started
losing momentum and Mommy and I decided to finish the ride on our own (travel
montage plays in background). In short, we ditched him (sorry Daddy).
Soon, my mom started lagging behind too, and I had to slow down and
wait for her at the top of some of the hills. Now I know how my parents felt
when I was a super slow 9-year old with a Barbie bike! :)
Mommy and I completed the ride with a personal best time of approximately
5 hours, and my dad came in about 15 min. later. We enjoyed the post-ride
snacks of Turkey Hill ice cream, grapes, cookies, and refreshingly chilled Turkey
Hill iced tea. Daddy even bought the two of us really cool polarized biking shades! This
is really turning out to be a great summer. :D
Stay tuned for Summertime Madness: Part 3!

So glad you are having a great summer! You deserve it!!!
