Excited. I was looking forward to this night for months!
Very good music. It was fun to clap along and listen to all the bands.
End. My middle school career is coming to an end next year. Eventually I’ll have to go to High School (and hopefully make that band). The 38th Annual Evening of Jazz will be (assuming I practice hard and get in again) my last year as a middle schooler.
Neighbors. Our awesome neighbors, Uncle George and Aunt Jeanne came to enjoy the show. Also, thank you Uncle George and Aunt Jeanne for coming and for the beautiful rose plant!
Improvisation. I got to play a total of 3 solos during the entire concert!
Now. As in now I’m starting to run out of ideas.
Guest Artist. This is the 3rd year of the Jazz In Residency Program that brings a renowned jazz artist to come and play with/give the HMS and HHS jazz band musicians advice. This year, we got to meet saxophonist Dick Oatts, a famous and very fun musician.
Out of town. Auntie Karen (close family friend AND my namesake!) came all the way from California to see the concert! Thanks Auntie Karen for traveling all that way to see me perform! :)
Fantastic Food. At intermission, audience members and musicians alike got a chance to swarm around the delicious dessert buffet.
Jazz Fords (HMS), Jazz Ensemble (HMS), HHS Lab Band, HHS Jazz Combo, and HHS Jazz Ensemble. The five bands that were featured for the concert.
All on video. The entire concert was recorded! You can check it out below:
(It’s a really long video so if you’d rather not sit for 2 hours, feel free to skip to 23:25 for my group and 1:56:00 for the finale piece)
Zoo. The audience was hootin’ and hollerin’ like animals at the Zoo.
Zzzzz… We didn’t get home until late. Bedtime!
