A Jazzy Update

As you all know, I play alto sax for my school's jazz ensemble, and my first year has been an amazing experience! Not only has HMS received the highest rating of "superior" for four straight competitions in row, but I have also learned a lot about jazz and met many new friends along the way. Our band director, Mr. Gittleman is absolutely spectacular, and deserves an award for everything he does :).

In fact, I have had so much fun playing the sax, I have decided to buy one once the rental trial period is over (mid June). As mentioned in a previous post, I was initially going to buy a silver saxophone because it is unique. However, during a recent competition when I won an award for the best soloist out of my school (YAY!!!), I realized how trustworthy my golden saxophone is and how it has never squeaked, or stopped playing when I needed it most. On top of that, my rental sax was brand new when I got it, so I am the only one to ever use it. After reading how much work it takes to clean a silver sax, I decided that I am going to buy the sax I am currently using. Both my grandmothers have "donated" to my sax fund, and my parents have agreed to pay half.

Thank you so much, Mama, Nana, Mommy, and Daddy!
